WSOP: Poker Now Members Makes a Mark

During the World Series of Poker we received lots of notes from Poker Now members that were competing live in Vegas… One such note came from a member named Stefan. He has been playing consistently with a group on Poker Now and several of them made the trip to Vegas for the WSOP. Elaine Luo, a professor at UNC-Charlotte, was one of the members that shined in Vegas. According to Stefan, “Elaine plays most every weekend with us (at least one if not two tournaments) since she joined the RSDP group in late July 2021. She also averages one low stakes cash game with the group per week.”

Elaine’s time on Poker Now paid off! Elaine told us, “I first started playing poker in high school, from free games on Facebook, and continued to low-stake games because I enjoyed the challenge. I didn’t know of any inspirational role models at that time, but currently I appreciate seeing badass women such as Maria Ho, Kitty Kuo, and Marle Spragg in the industry.”

When discussing her style of play Elaine said, “My style of play has changed from initially being passive to a bit more aggressive, but I think I can still keep working on it. I’d like to be able to find more credible bluffs to optimize balance in my play.“

Congrats on all the success Elaine!

Along the way, the 2022 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event winner defeated some stiff competition, including his heads-up opponent, Phil Ivey. The Norwegian poker pro took home $639,000 plus the bounties he opens on Monday. It was his first live tournament victory since last year's WSOP Main Event.
